Moonstone, revered by many cultures, has been associated with the moon due to its shimmery inner glow, known as adularescence. The gemstone has a long history of use as a talisman for fertility, love, protection and sleep. It is also known as the ‘Traveller’s Stone’, believed to protect people who wore it whilst travelling at night, travelling on sea voyages or whilst swimming.

Care for your gemstone

Moonstone is rated at 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale (Diamond is 10). To care for your Moonstone, gently clean using mild soap and warm water (not hot), using a soft cloth. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Store in a soft cloth or velvet pouch in a separate compartment of your jewellery box, away from other jewellery, to avoid scratches.
