Fluorite is known as ‘the most colourful gemstone in the world’ with Rainbow Fluorite often having swirling bands of clear, green, purple, and blue which are said to have a calming effect on the body and mind, helping to clear out negative energy and restore balance.

Rated at 4 on MOHS scale of gem hardness (Diamond is 10), Fluorite is quite a soft gemstone. The ancient Egyptians carved Fluorite into scarabs, statues and amulets and the Romans used Fluorite to carve into drinking vessels. 

Care for your gemstone

Fluorite is slightly soluble in water and should not be submerged. Clean with a warm, damp, soft cloth that has been dipped in soapy water and a soft brush. Store away from light and separately from other harder gemstones to avoid scratches.
