Tourmaline is rated at 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale of gemstone hardness (Diamond is 10). Warm, soapy water is the best method for cleaning Tourmaline. The use of ultrasonic and steam cleaners is not recommended. Also avoid subjecting your Tourmaline jewellery to a drastic temperature change as it can cause the stone to fracture and constant exposure to high heat can alter the colour of the gemstone.
