Amethyst is a fairly durable gemstone with a hardness of 7.0 on the gemstone hardness scale (Diamond is 10), sensitive to heat, sunlight and chemicals.

To care for your amethyst brooch, clean regularly with warm water (not hot or cold water) and mild soap, immersing your gemstone for about 15 minutes before using a soft brush and soft cloth. Rinse your amethyst until water runs clear ensuring soap is removed. Then air dry.

To minimize scratching and wear, store separately in a soft cloth or padded container.
